While 2019 has been pretty intensive of game releases, we are taking a moment to look back at 2018 and which were the best performing slots and which were the winners among the slots providers. Stay tuned as the list for 2019 is about to published soon.

In 2018 IG Tracker tracked over 8,500 different casino games over 520 sites and 34 countries. The slots space sees tens of games providers release games at a frantic rate, often more than once a month, making the casino game market ever more competitive. On average every game provider releases 30-40 titles per year.

Let’s dive right in and see how IG Tracker ranks the top 20 games and new releases of 2018.

For the analysis, IG Tracker looked at 282 casino pages tracked each day across six key markets: the UK (167), Sweden (42), Italy (23), Germany (19), Spain (18) and New Jersey (13).

Each page in the analysis was a main landing page. In the cases where sites have multiple tabs, for instance ‘Casino” and ‘Vegas’, the guys at IG Tracker looked at each casino page. They analysed the top 20 positions for each page from 1 January to 16 December 2018.

Starburst by NetEnt took the top spot by a considerable margin. It is measured the success of a game as the number of days the game was present in the top 20 positions on each casino page throughout 2018.

In the sample of casino pages over the six countries, Starburst appeared on 62% of the pages. Book of Dead by Play’n Go takes the second spot followed by Gonzo’s Quest by NetEnt. Overall, nine suppliers account for the top 20 games. It should be noted that most Playtech content is ring-fenced on their own casino pages, so the success of their games will be limited in this analysis.
